   Introduction Of Anulom Vilom

Anulom Vilom Pranayama is also known as Anuloma Pranayama . It is also a type of Breathing technique like Kapalbhati Pranayama . It is comes from the practice of hatha yoga . Anulom Vilom has a unique meaning which is Anu with combination of loma means hair implying "with the grain " or " natural " . 

Anuloma Viloma is similar to the practice of Nadi Shodhana which further means alternate nostril breathing and it is done with some circles anuloma viloma .

There are two types of Anulom Vilom :-

Anulom Vilom Type 1:-In first type of Anulom Vilom there is need to do alternate nostril breathing . Person who want to do anulom vilom type 1 need to just take breathe from left nostril and then releases from the right nostril  . After that take breathe from the right nostril and then releases from the left nostril . And this process of taking breathe from one nostril and releases from another is going on . This is all about Anulom Vilom Type 1 .

Anulom Vilom Type 2 :-In this type of anulomVilom There is similar process like anulom vilom type 1. But the only difference is the ratio of time taken of inspiration , cessation , and expiration of breathe should be 1:4:2 . This type of Anulom Vilom is much effective than the Anulom Vilom Type 1 . And it cleans the nadis in less time as well as provide benifits in less time .

There is Science behind the Anulom Vilom Full Process :-

In the science of yoga , the left nose is known as Ida Neti , the right nose is known as Pingala Nadi . And the middle part is known as Sushumna Nadi .

From the left side of the spinal cord the Ida neti starts , the Pingala Nadi starts from the right side of the spinal cord and the Sushumna Nadi starts from the middle of the Spinal Cord .

All the three Nadi's starts from the Muladhara Chakra and meet up the Agya Chakra can be purified by practicing Anuloma Viloma Pranayama .

Procedure / Steps To do Anulom Vilom Pranayama :-

  • First of all , you need to sit in a comfortable cross legged position in a healthy environment .
  • Close the right nostril with your right thumb .
  • Now inhale deeply through the left nostril .
  • Now close the left nostril with the ring finger of your right hand as you release the right nostril .
  • Exhale slowly through your right nostril .
  • Keeping the left nostril closed , inhale deeply through your right nostril .
  • Seal the right nostril again with your thumb , then release the left nostril .
  • Exhale out of the left nostril . You should now be in the original position , with the thumb sealing the right nostril .
  • Finally repeat the process ten to eleven times gradually increasing the number of repetitions .
  • Once you gain full breathe control during Nadi Shodhana , begin to hold your breathe for a moment at the top and bottom of each inhale/exhale cycle . Never strain ; let this next stage develop gradually .

  • If you are weak or suffering with anaemia then their is need to to do this pranayama in very slow manner . Only for 2-3 minutes .
  • People who have recently undergone with stomach ,brain surgery need to avoid this pranayama .
  • Pregnant women do this pranayama in the guidance of a physical practitionor or after discussing with her doctor .
  •  Avoid retension of breathe if you have high blood pressure . 
  • Those people suffering with heart  ailments should not attempt retention of breathe .
